Aathisoodi is a didactic poetry book written by Avvayar, a lady poet, in 13th Century AD in Tamil language. It consists of 108 small verses which summarises the life lessons in maximum of 4 words per verse.

Do not rush into conclusions. Be patient.

Do not befriend bullies. Do not follow their orders out of fear.

Get engaged with a good natured girl. Life will be better.


95. MenmakkaL sol Kel - Listen to wise people


Heed to the words of knowledgable persons. 


96. maivizhiyaar manaiyagal - Don’t get involved with shamming girls


Do not engage with ladies who speak with false pretences.


97. mozhivadhu aRamozhi - Speak clearly


Express yourself with confidence and truthfully.


98. Mogathai muni - Discard worldly desires


Do not concentrate on earthly pleasures too much. Keep away as much as possible.


99. vallamai PeSel - Don’t boast yourself


Do not brag about your superiority.


100. vaadhu murKooRel - Don’t reveal your arguments first


Hold your side of views for strong reply. Give a solid response to the opponent.
