paNdu muLaippadhu arisiYe aanaalum viNduumi Ponal muLaiyaadhaam-koNdaPer aatRaludaiyaarkkum aagaadhu aLavinRi EtRa karumam seyal. Paddy seed should be in full shape in order for it to sprout. It will not germinate if its husk is broke. Likewise, however talented one may, they may not finish all the works without limitations. Should accept a task only if it is feasible.

Irrigating a paddy field quenches the thirst of the weeds grown among the rice plants. Likewise, if there is a solitary good person in this ancient world, it will rain for the sake of that individual.

neeraLaVe aagumaam neeraambal thaankatra noolaLaVe aagumaam nuNNaRivu-Melai thavaththaLaVe aagumaam thaanpetra selvam kulathaLavE aagum guNam. Height of the Lily depends on the depth of the water level.  Vast of the knowledge depends on the depth of the learning. Amount of the wealth earned depends on good deeds done on the previous birth. Class of the behaviour depends on the upbringing by one's family.

The one who is ready to sacrifice his life for friendship will never surrender before his enemy. A stone pillar which cannot withstand heavy weight will only break, but will never bend.

aduthu muyandraalum aagumnaaL anRi edutha karumangal aagaa-thoduththa uruvaththaal neeNda uyarmarangaL ellaam paruvaththaal anRi pazhaa. How much ever the tree grows, fruit will not ripen until the season arrives. Likewise, how much ever you try, your efforts will not materialize until the right time comes.

attaalum paalsuvaiyil kuNDraadhu aLavaLavaai nattaalum naNballaar naNballar kettaalum MenmakkaL MenmakkaLe sangu suttaalum veNmai tharum. Selfish people will never make good friends. Milk will not curl even when boiled, rather it will taste sweeter. Similarly good hearted people will not turn bad even when they become poor. Like a sea shell stays white in colour even on fire.

The pleasure which does not come at young age, which could not be cherished at the old age is similar to unseasonal blossoming of flowers and an unadorned beautiful girl.

nallaar oruvarkku seidha upakaaram kalMel ezhuthu Pol kaaNuMe-allaadha eeramilaa nenjaththaarkku eendha upakaaram neerMel ezhuththirkku Ner. A help done to a benevolent person stays with him like an inscription on a stone. Cheaters will forget your help like a writing over running water.

nandri oruvarukku seydhakkaal annandri endru tharumkol enaVeNdaa-nindru thaLaraa vaLarthengu thaaLunda neerai thalaiyaale thaan tharuthalaal. When you  help someone, don't expect and wait for them to reciprocate that help. Like a coconut, which draws water through its feet (roots) and yields tender coconut water from its head (top), do charity without expecting anything in return.
