Aathisoodi - 13th Century Didactic Poetry - Avvayar - 101 to 108

Aathisoodi is a didactic poetry book written by Avvayar, a lady poet, in 13th Century AD in Tamil language. It consists of 108 small verses which summarises the life lessons in maximum of 4 words per verse.

101. Veedu pera nil - Don't be a slave

Always be independent. Protect your freedom at all costs.

102. uththamanaai iru - Be a purist

Keep your body, mind and action unadulterated. Do not contaminate them with negativity.

103. oorudan koodi vaazh - Be accommodative

Be cordial with others. Do not show superiority.

Respect others. Be gentle on your approach.

105. Vendi vinai seyYel - Don't expect payback

Do not expect something in return for anything you do. Do it for the joy of doing it.

106. vaikaRai thuyilezhu - Wake up early morning

Start your day early. It will give extra edge to you.

107. onnaarai TheRel - Don't befriend a contrasting personality

Always be friends with people in same wavelength.

Be blunt and straight. Do not speak behind someone else's back.
