Aathisoodi - 13th Century Didactic Poetry - Avvayar - 21 to 30

Aathisoodi is a didactic poetry book written by Avvayar, a lady poet, in 13th Century AD in Tamil language. It consists of 108 small verses which summarises the life lessons in maximum of 4 words per verse.

21. nandRi maRaVel - Don’t forget gratitude

Never forget the timely help you received. Remember them even after reaching greater heights.

22. paruvaThe payir sei - Do on time

Perform any activity based on the season. Use the right time or age to be successful.

23. maN paRithu uNNEl - Don’t use seeds as food

Do not consume the seeds which grow your food. Never forget your basics.

24. iyalbu alladhana seyYel - Don’t do anything abnormal

Never go against nature. Do not do anything freakish.

25. aravam aatTel - Don’t ask for trouble

Do not create a problem of your own and suffer. Be away from bother. 

26. ilavam panjil thuyil - Sleep in a cotton bed

Cotton beds are airy and comfy, use them for sleeping. They balance the temperature of our body.

27. vanjagam PeSel - Don’t speak deceptively

Be outspoken. Do not hide a thought in and speak cheerfully out.

28. azhagaladhana seYYel - Don’t do anything not pretty

Do everything graciously and beautifully. Don’t do anything for the sake of doing it.

29. ilamayil kal - Learn at a young age

Young age is the right time for learning new skills. Those will stay with you for life.
